Easter Day

Easter day with the Kanes and the Tierney family was a good time. We got Christopher all monkey-suited up and ready to hit the town. As you can see, in was a ham in full-form rockin' the cat-walk with his gray suit from J.C. Penny. The suit came with a tie, but he wasn't having it. He rocked the cat-walk anyway with the C.S.I. Miami-look.

After we got to Colleen's Aunt Chris' house, play time began full ahead. Kaylee, Max, and Christopher rode around for a bit in a big, red wagon. We had another Easter egg hunt, but Christopher was more interested in a toy bus that he found than finding eggs. The kids got bubbles and got to throw balls around...good times were had by all.

Oh, and did I mention that Christopher turned 2 years-old on Easter this year? Well, he did...here is the "airplane" cake that Colleen and I made for his celebration. He got loads of presents from a lot of different people. The birthday festivities were a nice cap to a very good Easter Day.

Easter Egg Dying

Every year with the Tierney clan (that is my in-law family for those keeping score) seasonal festivities are tradition. These festivities usually involve holidays, themes, and food/booze (which definitely makes them pretty interesting if nothing else). Saturday night was no exception. Every year, usually the Easter-Eve, we all meet at Aunt Bet's house to dye Easter eggs. This is fun times for the kids because Aunt Bet's back yard is, quite literally, a mini-park -- fully equipped with swing sets, slides, basketball court, lots of riding toys, and a play house (among other things). The kids, then, have a nice place to play and the adults can sit on the chairs and benches and keep watch over the tykes while eating, drinking, and being merry (as adults should per Irish tradition). The dyes for the Easter eggs are always out and at the ready so that anyone can dye eggs at any time. Christopher was able, for really the first time, to sit up and dye the eggs...and, of course, I got pictures....

Easter Egg Hunt

Christopher, Daddy, and Nana Marianne went Easter Egg Hunting this morning. Good times were had by all (except for the moments when Daddy had to do a lot of chasing and disciplining, but those times were few). He got the concept of gathering the eggs and putting them in his basket better than I expected...and, for that matter, for a much longer duration of time than I expected. He actually participated in the egg hunting for about 2 minutes, which was about 1 1/2 minutes longer than I thought he would. The kid keeps on surprising me at least once every day.

The Easter Bunny met us as we arrived to the Easter Egg Hunt location

Christopher was taught the "hunting" concept by Nana Marianne. He took to it like a fish to water...gathering many eggs very quickly...and, surprisingly, very focused on the task at hand.

As you can see, he abandoned the "hunt" for a more physically demanding activity....basically running around the Easter Egg hunting grounds. He found a big, open field and ran around all over the place. Then he found some steps and climbed up and down them for about 10 minutes or so. He seemed to have had a great time...and that's what really matters.

There's no story here....just some pictures of Christopher that we've snapped over the last few weeks. Enjoy.

Future NFL Hall of Famer???

I've been training Christopher on some basic football technique such as how to run with and secure the ball (as noted on a prior post) and I found some success with that. Now, we're on to some offensive line drills. Christopher has to learn to hike the ball and push forward into the defensive lineman. Thankfully, we got video documentation. Lets see how this went.

O.K., it seems we've got more work to do here...first not to run away from the defensive lineman! Maybe baseball or golf might be a better option.

National Geographic...LOOK OUT!

Christopher apparently got hold of my camera and decided that we didn't have enough pictures of him. I think he has a future in photography....what do you think?

Okay, maybe not.

More Outside Time

The temperature weekend before last was a tropical 59o F. This was a fantastic phenomenon, we thought, because of the 4 Nor'easters that we've experienced this last winter...the "Snowpocolypse" or "Snowmageddon" as the experience was titled by many locals. This seemed to be the winter that would press right through Spring and right to the summer months....an unforgiven bludgeoning that nature doled out on the American Northeast. Regardless, we took advantage of the "wonderful" weather and took Christopher outside for a few to get some steam out. We all seemed to have a good time.

One of Christopher's new "fun" things to do is sit on top of his big rubber ball, bounce up and down, and fall off. Doesn't seem like much fun to me, but, then again, I'm not a 2-year old with immeasurable amounts of pent-up energy.

After we were done with the bouncing-ball game, we played a little football. We practiced throwing the ball, and did some run-and-evade drills. The one thing that I learned from evaluating the "drills" is that my son is no speed-demon....which is good for us!

We got tired of that in about 2-minutes (his average attention span) and decided to use his dump truck as a riding toy. It wasn't built to be a riding toy, but it has apparently evolved into one that is more than functional for Christopher.
