Just So Everyone Knows...Matthew is Far From Neglected

...Just so people know....Matthew is far from neglected.  I have some photos of him too, doing some fun things.  I wanted to put him in a spot all by himself because I got some very cute pictures of him over the weekend.  So, he gets his own little "I'm cute as hell" spot to hang out!  He's growing like a weed and I have some vids I'm going to post as well as soon as I remember to get them done (they take a significant amount more work than posting pictures, so getting them done can be a very tedious process).  Know that they are coming soon though.

The Touchdown Spectacle!

Christopher Kane off with the snap...on a quick slant route.  He gets open, the quarterback finds him and throws the ball in his direction!

HE MAKES THE CATCH, evades the defender and takes off for the end-zone! HE CROSSES THE 50!...THE 40!....THE 30!...THE 20!...THE 10!....

TOUCHDOWN!!!
(and now we break down the different elements of Christopher's "Touchdown Dance" for lack of a better term)

  1. We start off with the Michael Jackson "HOOOOOOOOOOOO!" move as he crosses the goal line into the endzone (above)
  2. The spike (two pictures below...this is a very dramatic and long-lasting process, likely to increase the effect)
  3. This is followed by the "Strut" right into the
  4. "Richard Simmons"
  5. Followed by the Pee-Wee Herman, and
  6. Ending with the fist-pump flex

Note: the above pictures were compiled and arranged in such a way to emulate a continuous progression.  This event, however, was photographed on two separate touch downs and was edited together with a significantly large embellishment to make the "story" somewhat more enjoyable.  Christopher did not name any of the moves, although he did do different variations of them on both photo "sets".  I took a lot of liberties in describing the actions to make a more compelling (?) and/or entertaining (?) story.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Kid's Finally Getting It

Christopher's had this plastic Diego tricycle for over a year now.  When he first got it, for his 2nd birthday I think....could have been 3rd birthday...probably his 3rd come to think of it...regardless, he couldn't reach the pedals, but he seemed to always want to ride it around.  He discovered, after some time, that pushing a trike with your feet while trying to overt the large obstructing rear tires was too much of an annoyance.  Because of this, the trike was put on the afterburner for some time.  As this winter has been very mellow this year, we've had time to pull out some of the larger warm-weather toys (such as the Red Flyer wagon and Red Flyer scooter as well as the Diego trike).  After we got the trike out of the shed, Christopher was immediately drawn to it...salivating like Pavlov's dog at this new potentially amazingly fun challenge.  We quickly discovered that Christopher had either gone through, we think, or hit another growth spurt and has apparently shot up about 6"-8" since his birthday last year.  He could now reach the pedals.  We've been trying and trying to get him to pedal on some of the stationary pedaling toys we have in the house, and have been very unsuccessful at achieving this goal.  A couple of weeks ago, we were able to finally put this pedaling demon to rest as he quickly processed and applied the methodology of pedaling a trike...very successfully I might add.  It was pretty cool.  He did pretty good on the slight decline that goes down the street to the left of our house, but needed some, only some, assistance climbing the slight incline back to the house.  I think I might be able to chalk that up to a great success for the boy!  Good job, Kid Hyper.

Taking Advantage of a Lovely Day

Given that the weather yesterday was absolutely phenomenal, reaching a high of 72o, we took a family stroll, about 1/4 of a mile,  around the neighborhood.   Christopher was especially amped up, and asked if he could pull the wagon.  We apprehensively granted his wish...even letting him pull with Matthew strapped into the wagon. (Safety first, of course!)  I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised at 1.) how well Christopher did tugging Matthew along in the wagon, and 2.) that he towed for all but maybe 100 yards of the walk! It ended up being a fantastic walk and made the whole day worth it.  (...and don't worry, he did rest enough for take a long look at 3 planes that were flying overhead)

Outside Fun

While Matthew napped, the X-Man and I went outside to take advantage of the wonderful weather we've been experiencing here on the east coast.  We've had a very, very light winter this year, especially considering what we, along with a lot of the rest of the country, experienced over the last couple of winters.  We started out with Matthew taking a stroll in the wagon, then, after Matthew had his nuclear meltdown, Christopher and I returned for some bubble chasing and general running around the front yard.  Here are some shots of the day.

Being taunted by that cursed bubble!

Chocolate Face

Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on the circumstance, we are very rarely as parents allowed to enjoy a sweet treat without being bombarded, harassed, and suffocated by the onslaught of children who want nothing more than to keep us from enjoying a peaceful moment with a morsel of sweet, chocolatey delight.  Colleen got me some chocolate covered strawberries for my birthday a couple of weeks ago along with some other chocolatey treats (among them bacon...overrated I think).  The boys sniffed out the candy like sharks catching the scent of fresh meat in the sea...and circled around us with hungry eyes and watery mouths!  We caved, of course, and we all enjoyed Daddy's birthday delicacies as a family...as we had done earlier in the week with Mommy's Valentine's Day chocolate-covered strawberries.

If we only knew....
...what was so damn funny!

Definitely got more on his face than he did in his mouth!
