Christopher's Helping Hand

 As any of you who follow me and/or Colleen on Facebook already know...Matthew inadvertently took his first step last week.  We've been trying and trying with different tactics and offering an onslaught of encouragement for this monumental achievement, but to no avail.  The kid crawls as fast as a roach, can stand without any problem, and can even get himself to a standing position using only his hands and legs, but he seems to just be refusing to take it to the next level.  I can't even begin to explain the explosions of excitement that spewed from all of us when he did it.  It was great, but nothing since then.  He seems to have little interest in walking as he can get from one spot to another by simply crawling and I'm sure it's a lot easier on the quads, but what do I know?  Regardless, and to the point, we've ALL been trying very hard to get Matthew to walk...even Christopher, who relieved Mommy of her "getting-Matthew-to-walk" duties, taking over and walking in small circles with Matthew.  It was really something.  I have to say that even though the success of the outcome was only minimal as far as Matthew walking independently, it was kind of cool to sit back and what this 6 or 7 minute interaction between the boys.  Sometimes they really and truly amaze me.

Matthew's First Official Haircut

Although this wasn't Matthew's real first haircut...this is the first one that wasn't done to get dreadlocked hair from his eyes and ears.  Colleen's cousin, Shannon, is a hair stylist and offered to come to our house to cut his hair.  His hair, for those who don't know, is a complete hot mess.  He's rockin' the Albert Einstein do.  Something had to be done and so we did it.  She was fantastic with him as he put up just a little bit of resistance.  In the end, though, the scissors prevailed.

....and don't worry, he's still rockin' his mullet curls in the back...and we're thinking he's going to have similar textured hair to Christopher, but blonde....time will tell.

Playing Together Nicely

 After the throttling that Matt-Man gave The X-Factor the other day, it was nice to see them playing so nicely in Christopher's room.  They were launching Hot Wheels down a spiral ramp and belly laughing....good stuff.

  

Matt-Man's New Giraffe

 Finally got around to assembling one of Matt-Man's birthday presents.  I know his birthday was August 4, but am I still in the running for Father of the Year?  I think so.

The First of Many Days to Come

 The evening started off well.  I had just finished assembling Christopher's new booster seat in the living room when Matthew decided that he wanted to try it out first.  Christopher was cool with it, so long as he had his Elmo chair to sit on...or until Matthew vacated the booster seat...

 

 



...Matthew did eventually do just that, and Christopher took advantage of the opportunity to sit in his seat.  Matthew, of course, took umbridge at this and subsequently delivered an outright assault to Christopher to recapture the throne.  After Matthew was completed delivering the hurt on Christopher...well, you can see how it all ended up...
