Christopher Tries On His Mickey Mouse Costume.

We had a costume given to us by a former employee of Marianne, Colleen's mother. We weren't sure if Christopher was going to fit into it so we tried to get him to comply with us and try the costume on. Christopher was not a willing participant of this idea however. He fought with us tooth and nail -- kicking, screaming, flopping...but we would not falter. We won the battle...and discovered the costume fit just fine...if only he'd let us keep the hood up for a photo opportunity. He decided that he didn't want his picture taken and attempted to take evasive maneuvers to keep the photos from happening. He, however, could not thwart us from our goal...pictures were taken...and pictures are posted...BAM! I have to admit, however, that I was only able to get a few pictures...and was only able to get his picture with the hood on because he was distracted by a television commercial...but I'll take a win no matter how I get it.
"I not yike it, Daddy! I not yike it!" ----"No, Daddy....No!" (loving the Heisman pose here)
"Nooooooo" in a whiney voice ----------------- zombified by commercials; BAM!

Matthew's Christening

Last Sunday was Matthew's Christening (baptism for those of us who aren't Catholic). It ended up being a very good day. Matthew behaved during the entire event, Christopher behaved himself...even without a nap...my mom, Stephanie, was in town for the event, my Uncle Mike and Aunt Debbie were in the area from Alaska (not for the Christening, mind you, but they took time out of their schedule to come nonetheless), and, of course, Colleen's family and our friends made the day almost complete.

Unfortunately, we lost Colleen's father the weekend prior to Matthew's Christening. Bob had fought leukemia for 2 years, and it had finally got the better of him. Although he wasn't there in body, he was there in spirit and his presence was felt by all.

A Couple of Random Pics

I haven't been able to keep up with the blog as well as I'd like to. The goings on in our lives are entirely too busy for the last couple of weeks. I don't really feel right delving into the finite details of what those "goings on" are and posting that information all over the web, but some was good (which will be posted) and some was terrible (and will not be posted.) Regardless, we've been trying to keep pics updated in our camera and I've finally had some time to get them posted. More to come.

Expressions and New Do's.

Two things...not much to say really. Matthew is now a bit over a month old. He's weighing in at 9.2 lbs (which is about 2-3 lbs. heavier than Christopher was at the same age....crazy), and is within all "normal" parameters of infant development according to the standardized charts (as reliable as they are...as we all know). He's also starting to show some great facial expressions....watching and learning the expressions he sees. He's started staring at lights and ceiling fans as well...great stuff.

Christopher just got a haircut, and he wanted to rock it for you "The Kane Family" followers.

Matthew and Christopher During Dinner

I always tell people that Christopher eats salad like its going out of style....its really a true story and here's the proof. At dinner, we had BLT's, corn on the cob, and salad.
Matthew, however, not so picky, just chilled during dinner. I suppose that's acceptable...for a few more months! Then he, too, will be expected to run around the house like a fool, break stuff, and throw balloons all over the place....AFTER he eats his salad and corn like a good boy.

Puzzles and Alphabet Song

Here are some videos I took today of Christopher doing two of his puzzles. This is mostly for my mother...hence why the videos are so long....(5 and 8 minutes plus...the last video isn't too long). He loves his alphabet and numbers puzzles and is doing pretty well on singing the Alphabet Song...if he could sit or stand still long enough to focus on the Alphabet Song...

Pictures of Matthew

O.K., call us "suckers" if you wish, but Col and I opted to purchase pictures from the hospital's Maternity Unit (...you know...those people who come around and take pictures of your baby then try to sell you a way-overpriced package of photographs...most of which aren't very good, but they have you hook, line, and sinker because you're there anyway and still in an overwhelming state of awe and joy from all the excitement?....yeah, those). We did play it smart though, upon the recommendation of our friends, The Mesterns, and purchased the cd-rom of the pictures. The cd-rom package included, obviously, a disc that contained all the pictures the photographer took as well as the rights to do with the pictures what we please (they included a pdf. file that disclosed that we purchased all rights to the pictures and, therefore, can print them or display them as we deem fit without worry of copyright infringement.....nice touch I thought). So, since we have the rights to print or post them as we deem fit, here they are...Matthew Thomas Kane photos from Day 2 of his life on this planet.
